Dear Friend of the Trust,
I wanted to write to you to let you know that the Bravery Trust is the new business name for the Australian Defence Force Assistance Trust.
The Trustees believe the name, Bravery Trust, better communicates the important work we do with veterans and their families.
As you know the Trust is a nationally registered charity, founded in 2012 by Graham Edwards AM, a Vietnam veteran and prominent advocate for veterans.
I was honoured to be appointed inaugural Chairman and I am supported by dedicated Directors, most of whom have defence related backgrounds and who understand that each service family’s circumstances is unique. Our Patron–in-Chief is His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove, Governor General of Australia.
All of us believe that no service family should suffer financial hardship as a result of their sacrifice for the nation. Bravery Trust provides veterans and their families with financial support in times of need and tragedy, while also assisting them with resources and opportunities to lead productive lives in the community. The Bravery Trust helps close the gap in education, training, food and utility costs, specialised medical care and other special needs assistance. The Trust maintains contact and supports them to help achieve their ongoing independence. We provide them with tools and resources specific to their needs, such as upskilling and retraining. It is anticipated that applications for assistance will continue to increase, highlighting the need for greater support for individuals and their families.
The Trust’s new name will create greater awareness of the Trust and the services it delivers to beneficiaries and their families.
In the coming weeks it is likely you will become aware of our new branding through a range of media advertising.
